AIKA OYAMA

Global Dairy Girl

From Passion to Profession

Born in Okazaki, Aichi, Japan
living in NSW, Australia

I graduated from an agricultural high school and worked in the automotive industry for six years. My love for animals and my dream of working on a farm overseas grew stronger. To prepare for this journey, I learned English and connected with people from different countries.

At 19, my first solo trip to Cebu, Philippines, and then to Cairns, Australia. I experienced bungee jumping, skydiving, and holding a koala, and I fell in love with Australia's beautiful nature. During this trip, I made a decision: "One day, I will work on a farm in Australia."

After that, I traveled to nine countries and participated in volunteer activities.

In 2021, I moved to Canada on a working holiday to visit a friend in the U.S. While studying English, I worked in an Italian restaurant and a cafe. During my stay, I visited Texas, USA, where I learned business management from a Japanese former cowboy entrepreneur.

This experience made me 100% sure that I wanted to work on a farm abroad.

Soon after, I started working in dairy farming, learning how to care for cows and milk them. I quickly fell in love with the rewarding life of dairy farming.

Building a Sustainable Dairy Future

I working on a family run dairy farm in Australia while working towards my bigger goal: owning my own dairy farm. My mission is to create a sustainable dairy business and help young Japanese people gain experience working abroad.

I want to expand the possibilities of Japanese agriculture and help people share high quality Japanese agricultural products and traditions with the world. As a Sustainable Dairy Innovator, I am working to develop an environmentally friendly dairy farming model that works in harmony with nature.

Creating the World’s First Organic Cow Milk Soap

Through my dairy farming journey, I wanted to create something that brings joy to people’s lives.

This led me to develop the world’s first organic cow milk soap, made using natural dairy ingredients.

This soap is crafted using a traditional cold pressed method, which has existed in Japan since before the Azuchi Momoyama period.

It is made with locally grown organic ingredients, making it gentle on both the skin and the environment. This product supports the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) by promoting eco friendly and sustainable choices.

To support social inclusion, I also work with facilities that help people with disabilities by outsourcing the packaging and shipping of my products. This helps create job opportunities and a more inclusive society.

Looking Ahead

In the future, I want to support Japanese people who love dairy farming and want to work abroad, even if they are not confident in English. I am also studying farm management to develop my skills and grow my business.

By delivering organic milk soap made from Japan’s natural ingredients to people around the world, I hope to share the joy of nature and encourage sustainable living.

My ultimate goal is to connect people, nature, and the world to create a better, more sustainable future. I will continue to take on new challenges and make a positive impact.
